Based on a lot of experience baby-sitting
spa water quality over the last few years, in my opinion, shocking your spa
water, contrary to popular belief, should NOT be a matter of routine, unless
partying in your spa is routine. Shocking your water should be a
corrective action, and should be accomplished under the following
- Before and After you have had guests
using the spa
Algae appears or the
water "looks" dirty
- ANYTIME it is determined that your
bromine or chlorine sanitizer levels have dropped below 1-3 PPM!
- ANYTIME it is suspected that someone
has urinated in the water, or in the case of small children, if defecation has
occured while wearing a swimsuit or baby pants!
