Shocking your water, (or not!) Previous

Based on a lot of experience baby-sitting spa water quality over the last few years, in my opinion, shocking your spa water, contrary to popular belief, should NOT be a matter of routine, unless partying in your spa is routine.  Shocking your water should be a corrective action, and should be accomplished under the following situations:
  • Before and After you have had guests using the spa
  • Whenever Algae appears or the water "looks" dirty
  • ANYTIME it is determined that your bromine or chlorine sanitizer levels have dropped below 1-3 PPM!
  • ANYTIME it is suspected that someone has urinated in the water, or in the case of small children, if defecation has occured while wearing a swimsuit or baby pants!
  • ANYTIME you feel the water may be unsanitary...
